I’m a 17 year old white guy living in middle class America. I’ve never exactly been a supporter of feminism because that kind of thing has never really affected me personally. I don’t notice it and I don’t care about it. But in nine minutes this video has made what is truly a serious problem extremely apparent. Those “why I need feminism” posts or those slut-shaming or rape culture campaigns never convince me of anything. But this video actually did I think.

Mentioned eczema like rash on my nipples to a male doctor 3 months ago, he brushed it off saying it was probably just my pill.

Mentioned eczema like rash on my nipples to a female nurse this morning, she instantly booked me an appointment with a female specialist and cursed said male doctor to high heaven.

When it comes to male and female medical professionals, in my experience the females are always much more proactive when I mention a potential feminine problem. They have all received the same training so should all know the severity of the symptoms that I occasionally exhibit. I can’t help but feel that I am still seen as some hysterical, hypochondriac little girl to some of the men who have my health in their hands.

To add to this point, when I was 19 I started to go bald. I saw 5 males doctors who didn’t know what was happening so just threw various creams at me (one laughed at me, told me if he had bald patches as small as that, he would be a very happy man, he was 60 year old man and I was a 19 year old girl). When I finally saw a female doctor, she sent me for tests, diagnosed the problem and sorted it within 2 months.

Try the mini (progesterone only) pill first for 6 months because it doesnt agree with everyone and its the same as the implant. If all goes well then go for it, I’m getting one next year.
